Doctor's Corner
Intimate skin which includes the perineum (skin between vaginal opening and anus) and skin around the anus is among the thinnest and most sensitive areas of the body. Ordinary toilet paper may sometimes be too dry or rough which can cause friction. This can lead to small cracks or wounds on the skin surface , especially if you are irritation-prone in this area or prone to anal fissures, vulvar fissures or hemorrhoids.
Based on our clinical experience as doctors, we have seen many patients suffer in silence as they perceive these issues to be embarrassing. The reality is that many people have easily irritated intimate skin and while our cleansing water is not a cure, it does help relieve discomfort by reducing friction caused by dry toilet paper.
